Nova cars have been around for several years. They
started in 1962 when the first Nova became available
during the muscle car era. With a V-8 engine and
competitive abilities the Nova was up front with
quality. The Nova was also called the Chevy II. As a
compact car, it was available as a convertible or
could be purchased as a station wagon. What really
sold the Nova was that it had a fuel injected engine
as was a favorite for drag racing. Nova car parts
were purchased not only for repair but also to soup
up this classic car. These parts are still available
today from after market sources.
While some other cars were no longer produced the
Chevy Nova seemed to have a foothold, from the very
beginning. There were some distinct changes made
such as when the 1963 Chevy Nova Super Sport or SS
came about. It hosted a V-6 engine. With some
modifications the Super Sport was changed in 1966.
By 1968 the Nova station wagon was ended. In 1973
Chevrolet unveiled the hatchback with a 2 door
coupe. As well, the Super Sport engine was changed
for the better 350ci and 396ci big block, V-8
engine. At the same time the 4 cylinder was brought
to an end. Fortunately the Nova car parts are
available via the Internet. They are after market,
meaning that they no longer can be found in stores.
Chevy Novas lasted into the 1970's while the V-6 and
V-8 engines were still being used. Big block engines
started waning in popularity. By the early 1980's
the Chevy Nova, with all its variations, no longer
was manufactured. It is still a classic car and auto
enthusiasts have clubs to show and share about their
Chevy Nova memories. It was a long running car in
popularity and many have found this car to be one of
the sturdiest of its kind. This is as good a reason
as any to ensure that after market Chevy car parts
are still available.
It is expected that the enthusiasm about the Chevy
Nova will be around for a long time. Those who
remember the Nova will likely also remember how long
it lasted. It remains to be seen if they will
recreate the Nova at some point. For classic cars
Nova car parts will be available via after market
resources. For most people this means that there is
availability on the Internet.
